We focus crops such as wheat and field beans whilst ensuring bio-diversity and coutryside stewardship.
As have our own herd of Pedigree Aberdeen Angus cattle we produce own own feed, hay and straw, to ensure it's quality and hence the health of our animals.
The Pedigree Aberdeen Angus Herd was established at Manor Farm in 2015. We maintain a ‘closed herd’ which maintains the quality and health of the animals.
Countryside stewardship plays a large roll on the farm and helps us maintain high bio diversity looking after wild birds.
Each year we invite the RSPB to carry out a bird survey with positive results that prove Countryside Stewardship is working on our farm.
“It may particularly interest you to know that your farm boasted the highest diversity of species on the Farmland Bird Index (FBI) across all of our survey farms in the country, with 16 of the 19 species recorded (a 17th, lapwing, also flew over the site on the first visit). Importantly, the FBI on your farm increased from 1 to 2.26 between 2008 and 2017, the third highest increase in the region. The FBI is one indicator used by the Government to assess the state of wildlife on UK farmland, based on the abundance of 19 bird species. It is fixed at a value of 1 in the baseline survey year, so any value over 1 represents an increase in the wildlife value of the farm over time. Even values just under 1 compare favourably to the ongoing decline in the FBI nationally.””
